If you have worries about how people perceive your smile but would prefer not to use braces, there is another option available to you. Invisalign is a competitive orthodontic option that is recommended by many dentists. Any of the excellent dentists at McPherson Dental Care can walk you through this treatment process and journey to straighter teeth.
Many people question whether Invisalign actually works. The truth is that it does work in many cases. It has benefits that can make it an excellent alternative to other orthodontic options that you may have. It’s also easily accessible courtesy of Dr. Brian Kynaston, Dr. Matthew Perry, and Dr. Seth Prochaska at McPherson Dental Care.
How Does Invisalign Work?
When using Invisalign, clear aligners will be custom manufactured to fit on your unique teeth. These aligners will also work to move the teeth back to where they would ideally be in the mouth. When choosing Invisalign, rather than worrying about traditional braces, aligners will go over your teeth and appear nearly invisible to others.
The aligners are capable of moving your teeth both horizontally and vertically. They are also able to rotate any teeth that need it. Each set of aligners has only enough force needed to move the teeth a small amount, working towards a mouth full of teeth that are straight and aesthetically pleasing.
You will stop in at McPherson Dental Care on a regular basis to get new aligners that move the teeth in different ways. A treatment plan for your teeth will be provided for your unique needs by Dr. Prochaska, Dr. Kynaston, or Dr. Perry.
How Long Will Invisalign Be Required?
Invisalign offered by McPherson Dental Care can take anywhere from six months to one year. At your first appointment, you will discuss the process with your dentist to determine if it’s the right option. If the dentist decides that you are, impressions and x-rays of your teeth will be taken. After that, the information will be passed on to a lab that will manufacture your trays.
Once the aligners are available you will visit the office for the first set. You can then expect to stop in about twice a month to switch out aligners. When wearing aligners, you do have to make sure that you remove them when you are brushing, flossing, eating, or drinking. In most cases, you can expect to wear them for about 22 hours each day.
Every so often, when you come in for your appointment, you will meet with your dentist to determine how the process is going. You will continue to get new aligners every two weeks until your teeth are corrected to the point where you have the beautiful smile you dream of.
