Meet Our Hygenists
Mary Lynn Smith, RDH
Mary Lynn graduated in1987 from McMurry University with a Bachelor of Music degree and in 1994 was awarded her degree in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. She worked in excellent dental practices in Texas before joining the outstanding team at McPherson Dental Care in 1998. Through Dr. Julian at McPherson Dental Care, she has had opportunities to increase her knowledge and skills in advanced patient care. In 2007 Mary Lynn attained her Advanced Proficiency in Lasers with the Academy of Laser Dentistry, an international organization. She is also certified in implant care and is a member of the International Congress of Implantologists Auxiliary Group. She is a member of the Wichita component of the Kansas Dental Hygienists’ Association, as well as the National Dental Hygienists’ Association. She contributes to dental and medical communities by teaching hygienists advanced patient care, sharing knowledge through articles and public speaking.
Mary Lynn is married and has a step daughter and twin sons. She enjoys family time—especially when her grandson is visiting. She is an active member in her church, serving in areas of need. Her hobbies include singing, theatre, gardening, and long walks with her little dog. She counts it a privilege to serve in the “healing fields” of dentistry, helping others gain improved health and quality of life. She believes in celebrating life every day because every day is a celebration!
Dorthy Stafford, RDH
Dorthy Stafford graduated from Wichita State University in 1997 with an Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene degree. She has over10 years of experience in dentistry and has practiced in Wichita, Hays and McPherson. Working in a progressive dental practice enables her to offer the latest clinical technology available. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienist Association and its Wichita and Kansas components. She also has an Associate of Applied Science degree from Seward County Community College.
Dorthy appreciates the quality of dentistry provided at McPherson Dental Care. Staying informed on the latest research, technology and applications, allow the entire team to better serve our patients.
Dorthy has two children. Her son is in the United States Air Force and her daughter is a college student. In her free time. Dorthy enjoys traveling, gardening, home decorating, cooking, reading, and keeping company with her dog Sadie.
Kara McConnaughy, RDH
Kara Graduated from Hutchinson Community College in 2000 with an Associate of Arts Degree in Pre-Pharmacy. She then went to University of Kansas School of Pharmacy before deciding on a career in dental hygiene. She attended Wichita State University and graduated in 2003 with an Associate of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene.
Kara feels exceptionally lucky to have found such a great practice to be a part of. She started at McPherson Dental Care in 2003 right after graduating Hygiene School. Since then, Kara has attended several continuing education courses to expand her knowledge in her field and keep up with technology. She was trained in laser assisted hygiene in 2003 and has continued learning with lasers throughout her career. She enjoys working with an excellent team and excellent Doctors. She loves being able to provide the best care for her patients through advanced education, technology, and skill that the practice offers.
Kara is married to her husband Casey. They have one son and are expecting a second child. They enjoy the country life in rural Inman. Kara enjoys camping, playing with her son outside, sewing, gardening, cake decorating and spending time with friends and family.
Christy Clark, RDH
Christy Clark has practiced as a Dental Hygienist for close to a decade. Prior to joining the Hillsboro Dental Care team, Christy worked in the south-central Kansas area.
Born in Newton, Kansas, Christy grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Peabody. After graduating from Tabor College in 1998, she went on to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene at Wichita State University, graduating at the top of her class in 2000.
She enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and her extended family. Gardening, scrap booking, and camping are some of the hobbies Christy enjoys.
Andie Dunagan, RDH
Andie has seventeen years experience assisting dentists and specialists in the Wichita, Kansas area. She is a 2007 graduate of Wichita State University Dental Hygiene program and is a hygienist at both Hillsboro Dental Care and McPherson Dental Care.
Andie’s desire to provide quality dentistry and patient care is what brought her to Hillsboro Dental Care. She is committed to the dental hygiene profession and in providing her patients with superior treatment. Her professional goals include disease prevention, improving patients’ systemic health, and being a team player.
In her spare time Andie spends time with her husband and two daughters. As a family they enjoy showing Boer goats and raising and training barrel horses.
